Wherefore art thou, Romeo?

Sorry Juliet.
Romeo’s not coming back.
He says it’s not the time, that it’s got nothing to do with you.
But that’s just exactly what it is, he just doesn’t want to say it.
He doesn’t want to break your heart.
Funny, he didn’t seem to have a problem breaking it all those times before.
What he really wants to tell you is that there’s someone else.
Who is willing to give him probably a lot more than you would have.
In terms of more than just love.
Things you’re too young, too naïve to even think about.
What he wants.
What you can’t give him.
And so,
He’s moved on.

Now you sit up through the darkening night, drenching your pillow with all the emotions that tore your soul apart, just for one boy. Emotions that are stronger now, in this one moment of tragedy. Because for some reason, your heart still leaps when you see that spark of light in his chestnut eyes, your spirit dances at the sight of his raven hair, ruffled by the wind and for that moment, he’s no longer the boy you used to know, but the man you want to spend the rest of your life with. Even though he’s waving goodbye, running into the arms of another, never to hold your hand and whisper in your ear, just like you dreamed it would be.

Parting is such sweet sorrow.
