A wise young lady once asked me "Is it better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?"
What do I think?
I say, loved and lost.
Because at least then,
Even for that fleeting moment in time,
You know so much more than you did, than you would have known, had you never loved.
You now know that you actually love someone.
What it feels like to love someone.
What it feels like to have someone love you.
What it feels like to have your heart broken by that very person who you thought to be the golden thread that spun your life.
Giving it hope.
Joy.
Meaning.
For just once.
What it feels like to cry through the night, tears of bitter sorrow, for the one who once made your heart leap.
Then, with happiness.
Now with despair.
At the sight of him.
With her.
Them.
Together.
And you? Forgotten.
And so, everyone says, if you love someone, TELL THEM.
Before it’s too late.
But.
There was another wise lady who said “Do you have any idea what it’s like to say ‘I love you’ to someone and not have them say it back? ”
I do.
It sucks.
